Coverage reports

Step 1: Set up your coverage report

  • Title your Google Sheet or Excel Online file using the format:
    “[campaign title]launch_coverage report[DATE]”

  • Create separate tabs or sections for each outcome type:

    • TV

    • Radio

    • Online

    • Print

    • Social media

    • Medical/industry

  • Monitor Meltwater regularly post-launch & update the report as outcomes appear.

Step 2: Tracking medical & industry outcomes 

  • Click the story title in Meltwater to open the original publication.

  • Record all the places the story appears:

    • Homepage

    • News section

    • Health section (etc.)​​

Step 3: Tracking TV outcomes

  1. 1. Open Meltwater & select the relevant campaign search or tag.

  2. Filter by outcome type: choose TV.

  3. Click on each outcome to view the full story.

  4. Click the syndication icon to see where else the story aired — count each syndication as a separate story.

  5. Record the following in your coverage report:

    • Name of the broadcast outlet

    • Title of the story

    • Time it aired

  6. Download the TV clip:

    • Click the download icon.

    • Select edit clip.

    • Manually trim to the exact timecodes of the coverage only.

  7. Upload the clip to the shared VIVA! Google Drive in the correct folder.

  8. Generate a sharable link & paste it into the coverage report.

Step 4: Tracking radio outcomes 

  1. Repeat all steps from TV outcomes.

  2. You’ll still need to manually listen for timecodes before downloading the clip from Meltwater.

Step 5: Tracking online outcomes

  1. Click the story title in Meltwater to open the original publication.

  2. Record all the places the story appears:

    • Homepage

    • News section

    • Health section (etc.)

Step 6: Tracking print outcomes

  1. Follow the same steps as online outcomes.

  2. When you click the story link in iSentia, it will open a PDF.

  3. Download the PDF.

  4. Upload it to the shared Google Drive.

  5. Add a sharable link to your coverage report.​​

Step 7: Tracking Social Media Outcomes

  1. Search keywords relevant to your campaign on:

    • LinkedIn

    • Twitter (X)

    • Facebook

    • Instagram

  2. For each post found, record the following:

    • Date of post

    • Account name

    • First sentence of the post

    • Direct link to the post
